Assignment for "Assembler" Section

For the "assembler" portion of this experiment, you will be responsible for constructing a sample web page. Your web page will provide access to all of the web sites that you visited as part of your "user" assignment in a clear, well-organized fashion.

If you are not familiar with the construction of HTML documents (Web pages), a basic overview of HTML programming is provided in the "HTML Tutorial" section. All of the information you will need to complete this assignment is provided there. More comprehensive tutorials to both HTML Basics and Advanced HTML are offered through the NCSU Computing Center Unity/EOS Help page. In addition, many of the common HTML codes are also listed in the"Glossary of HTML Tags" section.

Your web page should consist of at least three independant pages. You should include a tile page (which should incorporate your section number and the names of all of your group members), one or more pages containing the links, and a page with contact information (names, e-mail addresses, and e-mail links) for your group members. You should make use of lists, graphics, and hypertext links as needed.

Your web pages should be prepared using Microsoft Notepad (Notepad is accessable through the E123 directory located on the Start Menu). Directories have been set up for each class:

  1. Monday-Wednesday, 2:15 Section
  2. Monday-Wednesday, 4:15 Section
  3. Tuesday-Thursday, 4:15 Section

Please use your assigned directory.

If you are having problems and need to speak to the TA or the professor, phone numbers and e-mail addresses may be found on our Contact Page.

Before you leave class today, please take a few moments to fill out a Student Survey for this experiment. In order to improve and expand this lab, we need your input!

Take a few moments to read through the notes listed below. Save yourself some time and effort by reading these hints now, before you start having problems.

Important Notes

Bullet In Notepad, it may be helpful to activate the "Word Wrap" option, located in the "Edit" pull-down menu.

Bullet Remember to include the .html extention when saving you HTML files in Notepad.

Bullet To view your web documents with the Internet Explorer, open the explorer and type in path to your file (the directory listed above for your section) followed by the file name (along with the .html extention). Alternately, open Windows Explorer, find your file in your directory, and double-click on the file. This will open the Internet Explorer, which will open your HTML file.

Bullet For changes in your HTML code to affect the material being displayed by the Internet Explorer, you must save your HTML file (in Notepad) and click the "Refresh" button in Internet Explorer.
