Call for Papers

Important deadlines for the conference are:

• Abstract and Session Submission to All Structures Congress Tracks: June 10, 2008 ( Extended to June 16, 2008 )
• Notification of Editor Acceptance of Abstract: September 15, 2008
• Final Submission of Poster or Manuscript: January 12, 2009

Abstracts and sessions will be selected from an open call and by invitation. Presenters must provide a maximum two-page abstract. File formats for abstracts are restricted to the Microsoft Word (.DOC) or Adobe Acrobat (.PDF) file formats. The deadline to submit an abstract or session is June 10, 2008 ( Extended to June 16, 2008 ). Final submission of paper is due January 12, 2009.

Abstracts should provide a clear description of the intended paper and presentation and include such information as: a description of the problem being addressed, the motivation for the work, the potential impacts (including analytical, theoretical or practical) on the profession and results or expected outcomes. The abstract must consist of no more than 500 words (figures and diagrams are not considered in the word count and are encouraged). 2 page maximum.

Session proposals must include a list of participants as well as a desired session format. Individual presentation and full-session abstracts will be reviewed by the National Technical Program Committee before final acceptance. Session formats may include but are not limited to:

• Standard moderated speaker sessions (3 to 4 speakers per session)
• Panel discussion sessions
• Poster sessions
• “Ask-the-expert” mini-seminars and workshops

Your Paper Session Document Must Include: Full contact information for the moderator of the session Full contact information for main author of each paper in the session. (This is the person who will eventually submit the final paper). Session description (100-200 words) Sponsor of session (if sponsored by an ASCE committee) All abstracts associated with your session must be uploaded separately by the author after the session is in the system. Make sure the abstracts are associated with the correct session title. Both the session and abstracts are due June 10, 2008 ( Extended to June 16, 2008 ). For each paper in the session (minimum=2, maximum=4) Title and Abstract of paper (100-300 words) List of authors, including the following contact information for each author: Name Affiliation (Company, University, etc.) E-mail (for corresponding author) Each author MUST submit their abstract to the system.

An editor, and possibly other reviewers, will review the abstracts/sessions. Authors will receive a response from the editor indicating whether the editor approved the document, requires a revision of the document or declined the document. If the editor approved the document, the author will receive an e-mail notice of acceptance by September 15, 2008. For an approved abstract, the author will be required to submit a full paper or poster paper due no later than January 12, 2009.

An editor may suggest that your abstract be considered as a poster instead of one of the parallel presentation sessions. Only a display is required for the poster session. No oral presentation is expected.

Final Paper Minimum Requirements Main Congress: Minimum length: four full pages (12 point font, 1 inch margins all around) Maximum Length: ten full pages (12 point font, 1 inch margins all around) Papers will be edited but not officially peer reviewed Papers not conforming to the template guidelines will be returned to the author and will not be included in the conference proceedings Final papers and poster papers should be submitted in Adobe Acrobat (.PDF) format. Uploading Final Paper or Poster Instructions Log In to your Author Account After successfully logging in, you should see your Uploaded Abstract Files listed. Click on the 'Upload Final Document' button to the right of your Approved Abstract. You will be redirected to the Final Document Submission Form.
